The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. Annualcreditreport.com is the only authorized website that is a part of the official annual free credit report program. Most other websites that claim to provide “free” credit reports actually have strings attached and will begin charging you for reports if you do not cancel during the “free” period.
